Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation is an inspired and achingly romantic reimagining of Nora Ephron’s beloved rom-com When Harry Met Sally, which famously questioned whether men and women (heterosexual pairings specifically) can ever truly be just friends. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I found the premise of the aliens on earth here for 65 million years, directing human development, and then fighting amongst themselves only for the last 500 years a bit too much. more disappointed given all the good reviews of this book. You get sucked in, then are allowed to create your own thoughts about the circumstances in the story but he pulls you back in, keeping you with the protagonist through to the end. Highly recommended for people who like the flux that some authors can produce. I can't wait to find out how this series plays out. It was a roller coaster of a ride for most of the story but that's exactly what made it so exciting. It felt like a first time novel though where the writer would hit his stride and pull you in and then slowly ebb and flow bringing you close to the characters and then allowing you (albeit, not intentionally) to flow away from the story and recognize the faults of the characters you're supposed to be cheering for. ![]() |
